Partner in the Corporate Investigations area at Demarest and focused on Competition Law, Bruno de Luca Drago is a reference in cases involving highly complex mergers and unilateral conduct. He served as President of the Brazilian Institute of Competition, Consumption and International Trade Studies (IBRAC) in the 2022-2023 administration, as well as Director of Competition and Economic Litigation in previous administrations. Bruno holds a PhD in Commercial Law, with emphasis on Competition Law, from Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and a master's degree in Competition Law from King’s College of London. He has broad international experience, having worked as an associate at Howrey LLP on competition matters, in Brussels (2005/2006) and Washington D.C. (2007). In addition to matters involving concentration acts and unilateral conduct, he also works actively in cases involving collusive conduct, as well as discussions on compensation for damages resulting from cartels, including acting as an expert before the English courts.
- Advised the Brazilian Association of Banks (ABBC) and its associates in the creation of CERTA – Securities and Assets Registration Center S.A., to develop and perform registrations of securities and other financial assets not considered securities.
- Advised Azul Linhas Aéreas in the creation of a new company, together with the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (ECT), for the express delivery of packages in Brazil, combined with Azul’s air cargo business.
- Advised Clariant AG and Huntsman Corporation regarding the alleged merger of their global business.
- Advised Comgás (Cosan Group) in the Gemini case, which involves investigation of anticompetitive conduct consistent with the practice of cross subsidies by Petrobras and White Martins in the liquefied natural gas supply market.
- Advising a major financial institution in the Brazilian arm of a global investigation initiated to ascertain alleged manipulation in the offshore and onshore foreign exchange market.
