Mariane Kondo will join the investment funds and asset management team, whose growth is in line with the firm’s strategic planning
Soon to celebrate its 77th anniversary, Demarest Advogados, one of the most respected and recognized full-service law firms in the country and Latin America, announces Mariane Kondo as its new partner to work in the Investment Funds practice. With her arrival, the firm reaches the impressive milestone of 100 partners.
By joining Demarest’s Investment Funds and Asset Management team, Mariane Kondo brings with her 17 years of experience in the area, advising clients on the structuring of investment funds and transactions involving the purchase and sale of asset portfolios. Her work encompasses advisory, transactional and regulatory issues in the sector, which range from the establishment of a management company to regulatory issues and raising investment funds through different strategies.
A law graduate from PUC-SP, the new Demarest partner studied Succession Planning at FGV-SP and also worked as a foreign associate at Dechert LLP, in New York, and at the Maples Group office, in the Cayman Islands.
In this new professional phase, Mariane highlights the area’s growth potential in the face of the challenges of the current economic climate, which motivates her even more to seek innovative solutions for her clients.
“The fund industry already has more than BRL 9 trillion in accumulated assets and there is potential for much more growth in the country. This year, growth is expected, especially for Credit Rights Investment Funds (FIDCs) and those related to crypto assets, considering the U.S. scenario and the Brazilian economic context, with higher interest rates and less access to credit”, says Mariane.
She also highlights the fundamental role of legal counsel in interacting with regulatory bodies and the government and thus improving the rules of the sector. “The goal is to strengthen the firm’s financial area so that we can build solutions that can advise managers, creating innovative and efficient structures to connect their demands with those of the market and investors”.
“A strong performance in Investment Funds and Asset Management is one of our priorities, gaining more and more space in this market, and being recognized for the excellence of the services provided. The arrival of Mariane, who has experience mainly with local and global managers, strengthens the firm’s performance in this industry, already known for its work with structured funds, innovative solutions and foreign investors”, says Letícia Galdino Wanderley, partner in the Investment Funds and Asset Management and Capital Markets areas at Demarest.
Paulo Coelho da Rocha, Managing Partner at Demarest, also highlights the significant expansion of the firm and the arrival of Mariane to the team.
“Demarest will be celebrating its 77th anniversary in April, amidst an expansion process focused on sustainable business growth and aligned with our values of diversity, with almost half of our partners being female. Part of this expansion is focused on our performance in finance and listed companies, offering a complete product solution for more complex operations, and investment funds play a central role in mobilizing investments in equity, credit and hybrid instruments, especially for alternative investments”, says Paulo.
