April 9th, 2025

In March 2025, Brazil’s National Council for Self-Regulation in Advertising (“CONAR”) – a non-governmental organization that monitors the ethical issues involved in advertising in Brazil based on complaints submitted by consumers, authorities, members, or its board – published its 2024 activity report via its monthly newsletter.
Of all the data provided, it is worth highlighting the 17% increase in the number of complaints filed, especially those submitted by consumers.
The newsletter also provided details about key industries, such as the Food industry, with 23% turnover; the Betting industry, with 19%; and the Fashion Retail industry, with 11.4%.
Lastly, the study revealed that nearly half of the representations involved the truthful depiction of the product or service offered.
